The Labrador Retriever is one of the most popular breeds of dogs in the United States. The specimens were brought to England in the 1800's by British ships arriving from Labrador. This breed is crossed with the Setter, Spaniel, and other types of Retrievers to enhance their instincts as hunters. Labradors are very easy to train and are not only well known as family friends but also excel at: hunting, tracking, retrieving, watchdogs, police dogs, drug detection, guiding the blind and the disabled, rescue and search, transport, agility, and obedience competitions.
