
An unfortunate incident recently happened to a YouTuber from the US named Timothy Wilks. Because the idea was to make prank or prank videos, the 20-year-old boy had to die at the hands of his would-be victim. This incident began on Friday (5/2) night, around 9.30 pm local time. At that time, Wilks and a friend visited a trampoline park in the Old Hickory area, Tennessee state. The two of them intend to make a heist prank for content on YouTube, the detective who handled the incident told local media WRKN.
Upon arriving at the location, Wilks and his friends visited a group of people in the trampoline park parking lot. Well, as part of this prank, they both carry meat cleavers to make it look convincing as robbers.
As it turned out, one of the would-be victims of the Wilks prank was carrying a gun. He immediately shot Wilks because he did not know that the robbery was just a prank. To the police, the 23-year-old perpetrator said that his actions were based on "self-protection".
According to the WRKN report, the police are still investigating the case. However, no one was detained from this incident.
Video pranks are one of the best-selling video "genres" on YouTube. Generally, prank videos are plotted, with everyone involved knowing their role in it.
However, in some cases, the prank videos will be blocked by YouTube. Since two years ago, the video streaming platform has indeed had regulations that prohibit dangerous jokes or threaten human lives.
On its official website, YouTube says they will block jokes that scare victims of serious physical harm or that create serious emotional distress to minors. Threats with weapons and fake robbery, such as that of Wilks, are actually listed as offenses that would result in the removal of the video.
